Happy Record Store Day To All

Today is national record store day! Please support your local store! It is dire and let the local companies continue to thrive in the music business that is now depleting by the second due to the digital era. I’ll tell you what music on vinyl is some of the best music you can hear and today you can find just what you want.
Stores like Newbury Comics and Bullmoose really thrive in entertainment music sales today, the local stores not so much, but if you have one from where you live it is a must to support them by all means! Whether you snag the latest and hottest record or the contemporary classics let Record Store Day be a place in your heart, or a place in your playlist, if you will.
Bands like the Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden still perform music within local music industries. Bands today still recognize their roots and show its appreciation by this, and the fans support them at all costs.

GoodWill Gold

Oh The Things You’ll Find at Goodwill

Some days you find treasure and some days you don’t. Safe enough to say that today was the day I found gold. Ten records for ten bucks! David Bowie among the most surprised to see. As well as the Eagles, and Glenn Frey. Needless to say I left as a happy customer, with a fellow customer behind me gasping in disbelief. “That’s right, I can’t believe it either.” I said.

“You got some good ones!” I then gave a head nod and went on my way. As I grabbed for each record I screamed inner joy on the inside. “Is this really happening?”

Of course checking every single one for the actual record and they all were there, and in decent shape. What a find.

When I saw Bowie my eyes lit up, and then I just got sad. What a prized possession this is, and what memorable album at that! So right around this point I am pure shock, and in music heaven. Who in their right mind would let go of these? I mean I understand that records are no longer a thing. But c’mon these are classics we are talking about. A solid score if I do say so myself, holding each and everyone while looking over my shoulder, no joke it was that serious.

Upcoming Albums, Concerts and Wish List Concerts

Nothing like waiting for an album that you think and know will be on full blast in your head.

Here’s my five albums to be most excited for this summer.

Tame Impala- Currents: expected on July 17th

This album has been long awaited and there has been mixed hype surrounding the band’s fans in thinking there is changed sound from the previous albums. I guess we will have to wait and hear. I personally am excited for this album to drop.

The Maccabees- Marks To Prove It: expected on July 31st

The Maccabees have a couple singles released with their one song being the name of the album “Marks To Prove it” The sound is back to where I remembered their previous album from five years ago, quite a hiatus but from the single sounds like it could be something worth waiting for.

Mac Demarco- Another One: expected on August 7th

The slow easing Mac is back at it with.. “Another One” no pun intended. This man just keeps cranking these albums out. Salad Days and 2 were awesome, “Another One” will be another good one.

Beach House-  Depression Cherry: expected on August 28th

Unlike the other bands listed Beach House has yet to release any singles off the album which makes the waiting game that much more interesting. This will be the band’s latest album since “Bloom” in 2012.

Foals- What Went Down: expected on August 28th

From what I’ve heard from the single “What Went Down” I was very hyped sounds like the sound and depth is still going strong with this group, a very underrated band to say the least. Previous songs like “My Number” and “Total Life Forever” gives the same vibe. I’m excited and you should be too.

-Dr. Dog Levitate Music Festival- Marshfield, MA on July 11th.

-Bleachers perform at Fenway Park Boston MA on July 16th.

-Foo Fighters at Fenway Park Boston, MA July 18th and 19th.

-Neil Young at Xfinity Center in Mansfield, MA on July 22nd.

-Interpol performs at House of Blues- Boston, MA on July 23rd.

-Modest Mouse Blue Hills Bank Pavilion- Boston, MA on July 23rd.

With the concert buzz in the air, I really wanted to create a wish list of all time bands to see live.

It would start with Led Zeppelin followed by The Beatles, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, The Clash, The Animals, and The Grateful Dead.

Probably as cliche as a list can get, but that’s the classics folks, those were the glory days!

I feel like we are lucky enough to have fans of this music to know these classics because this generation sure as hell doesn’t recognize it. Few and far in between it feels like.

Wish list of bands to see

  • Wico
  • The Strokes
  • Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros
  • Radiohead
  • Dr. Dog
  • The Hold Steady
  • Sun Kil Moon
  • Dawes
  • The War On Drugs
  • Beck
  • Allah-Las
  • Flaming Lips, for a couple reasons.. The obvious great music but mostly because Wayne Coyne likes to crowd surf in a giant ball and perform unique antics on stage and how could you not want to be apart of it.
